The Musical Life of Black
Blake was a famous ragtime musician in American. Ragtime music is an early form of jazz. It was very popular in the early twentieth century. Blake wrote his first ragtime song, when he was sixteen years old. His parents were black slaves. They were too poor. He started to work in the replica watch shop and play the piano in a night club when he was fifteen years old. Blake retired in the nineteen-forties to study music at New York University. Later, however, he returned to the stage. He travelled, wrote music and played the piano until he died at the age of one hundred.
